Former Police Spokesperson Charity Charamba Appointed Zimbabwe’s Ambassador To Zambia

Charamba is one of the five new ambassadors appointed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to replace those who have been recalled or retired.

Apart from Charamba, Mnangagwa also appointed former Prosecutor-General Johannes Tomana, who has been deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), former Zimbabwe’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Taonga Mushayavanhu has been re-deployed to Ethiopia, while former Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the United States Ammon Mutembwa will become the country’s ambassador to Belgium. Former Special Advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Stuart Harold Comberbach is now the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Charamba was part of the group that underwent training at the Management Training Bureau in Msasa, Harare.

Charamba was moved from the police press department where she was head and redeployed to the Police Staff College. She was replaced by her then deputy, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi. 

She was among 11 top-ranking police officers who were moved from their different stations to occupy other influential positions within the force.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed former Prosecutor-General Johannes Tomana as Ambassador to the  Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Tomana was appointed alongside former Zimbabwe's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Taonga Mushayavanhu has been re-deployed to Ethiopia, while former Zimbabwe's ambassador to the United States Ammon Mutembwa will become the country's ambassador to Belgium.

Former police spokesperson Mrs Charity Angeline Charamba is the country's new ambassador to Zambia while former Special Advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Stuart Harold Comberbach is now the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

A fun fact is that Charamba once starred on the popular ZBC TV drama  Paraffin. In an interview with a local publication, Charamba said that not only did she act in the drama Paraffin but in four other dramas as well, which include Pfuma Yenhaka.

She assumed the role of police spokesperson after she took over from Wayne Bvudzijena.
