This campaign is calling upon the United Kingdom Government to launch an inquiry into Zimeye.net /Zimeye.com/Media Origins Ltd , Owner Simbarashe Chikanza and his conduct following the sustained maltreatment, Bullying and online harassment of Zimbabweans living on UK soil in over a decade . The headlines, harassment and trial by his publication through Facebook live facilities ,illegal recordings, trolling and tormenting people using phones has to end and he must be held accountable. Simbarashe Chikanza has destroyed lives .Citizens have lost jobs and businesses through publishing falsehoods and making false accusations against anyone who speak against him or mention his online publication. What is even more worrying is the fact that Chikanza got an award from the Big Lottery Fund to set up this vile enterprise which he is now using to ruin peoples lives.
The Government launched a public inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press following the News International phone hacking scandal, chaired by Lord Justice Leveson in 2011.
Almost a decade later and we are still seeing similar issues in the press, in particular unregulated organisations operated by ethnic minority individuals with no regulation or accountability whatsoever. We are campaigning for an inquiry into the practices and policies of online bloggers and citizen media organisations and social media platforms to protect members of the public from harm.
Allow us to set the record straight. Were are not here to chain free speech. This is not our aim. Instead we would like the government , online publishers, citizen journalists, media organisations on UK soil to have open conversations to formulate a set of guidelines which find a balance between freedom of the press and rights of the public.
