180km/h on a Zimbabwean Road? This Is Stupidity at the Highest Level

Zimbabweans are furious after a shocking video surfaced online showing a man allegedly driving at 180km per hour on a public road, an act many have described as reckless, irresponsible, and a clear death wish. In a country where most roads are riddled with potholes, unmarked speed humps, pedestrians, livestock, and kombis that stop without warning, many are asking one simple question: what was he thinking?

Social media users were quick to slam the driver, warning that such behaviour doesn’t just endanger the person behind the wheel, but innocent families, children, and other road users. “At 180km/h, you’re not driving — you’re gambling with lives,” one commenter wrote. Others pointed out that even modern highways in developed countries strictly limit speed, yet here someone felt comfortable pushing extreme speeds on roads never designed for it.

Road safety advocates say this incident highlights a growing culture of show-off driving, where speed is used for clout and social media attention rather than common sense. With Zimbabwe already recording heartbreaking road fatalities every year, many are calling for stricter enforcement, heavy fines, and jail time for reckless drivers before more lives are lost. As one viral comment summed it up perfectly: “Cars can be replaced. Lives cannot.”
