37 lives lost to drownings in Midlands province amid heavy rainsMORE than 30 people have drowned in Midlands Province since the onset of the current rainy season, with authorities confirming 37 fatalities, more than double the figure recorded during the previous rainy period. Police say the increase in drowning incidents has become a major concern, particularly as most rivers and dams are now filled to capacity following consistent rainfall across the province. The mining community of Kwekwe has been the hardest hit, accounting for more than 18 of the recorded deaths.
