ward-winning Zimbabwean musician Gift Kudakwashe Hombarume, better known as Chillmaster, is reportedly set to go on trial today.
The 24-year-old artist was involved in a fatal road traffic accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian, Custon Charambira, along New Chitungwiza Road. Charambira sadly died on the spot.
Chillmaster is reportedly facing culpable homicide charges.

As the trial begins today, as reported by H-Metro, unconfirmed reports suggest that Chillmaster may not have had a valid driver’s licence at the time of the crash.
Witnesses at the scene claimed that Chillmaster failed to produce a licence, sparking suspicions that he may have been driving illegally.
While it remains unclear whether he was entirely unlicensed or simply did not have the licence disc on him, the absence of the document could expose him to further legal consequences. Under Zimbabwe’s Road Traffic Act [Chapter 13:11], driving without a valid licence can result in a fine of up to US$300, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.
Adding to his legal woes, Chillmaster may face a life sentence if convicted of culpable homicide, as the victim reportedly died on the spot. If prosecutors proceed with charges of both culpable homicide and driving without a licence, the 24-year-old could face a significantly harsher penalty.
Meanwhile, speaking out following the accident, Chillmaster described the incident as devastating and expressed profound sorrow over the loss of life.
