A police sergeant thought he could outsmart the system by earning a government salary while secretly running a cross-border vehicle smuggling syndicate to Mozambique.
However, his luck ran out when he was caught red-handed at the Lebombo Border Gate attempting to smuggle a stolen blue Toyota Corolla Cross into Mozambique on his day off.
The Komatipoort Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) promptly arrested him. Now, he's serving time in prison, where he wraps himself in a murahadonki at night to stay warm during the cold winter months.
