HARARE – Motorists and local residents were left in shock on Sunday night following a horrific road accident involving a white Toyota Hilux GD6 along Enterprise Road, near the Highlands Park shopping precinct.
The vehicle, which appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed, reportedly lost control before veering off the tarmac and flipping multiple times. It eventually came to a rest on its roof, resting precariously against a residential perimeter wall protected by Safeguard Security.
Images from the scene show the vehicle completely inverted, with the undercarriage exposed and severe structural damage to the front and roof. The impact was violent enough to shatter the windshield and deploy airbags, leaving debris scattered across the paved sidewalk.
Witnesses at the scene noted that the area, which is a notorious stretch for speeding during late hours, was quickly swarmed by first responders and security personnel from the nearby property.
This latest incident has sparked a fresh wave of warnings from Zimbabwean musicians and public figures, who took to social media to urge drivers to exercise extreme caution.
"Everyone please be careful on the roads. The GD6 lost control on Enterprise Road near Highlands Park. It’s a miracle if anyone walked away from that," one witness shared online.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have frequently warned against night-time speeding, especially on major arteries like Enterprise Road, where visibility and sudden turns can prove fatal for those exceeding the speed limit.
