LEEDS – Two Zimbabwean nationals, Timothy Magaya (26) and Obert Ndlovu, lost their lives in a dramatic late-night incident in Leeds after allegedly breaking into a cellphone store and exchanging gunfire with private security.
According to West Yorkshire Police, the pair attempted to rob a high-end electronics shop in the city centre shortly after midnight. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the two forcing entry into the store before being confronted by armed security personnel responding to the break-in. As the suspects tried to flee, shots were fired in both directions, resulting in both men being fatally wounded at the scene.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are working with the Zimbabwean Embassy to notify the families. The incident has sparked debate over rising crime involving foreign nationals and the increasing use of armed private security in UK cities.
