IN MEMORY OF RETIRED COLONEL CLAUDIUS WILLIAM MAKOVA πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡Ό

A Liberation War Veteran. A Soldier. A Legislator. A Farmer. A Voice for Mkwasine.

🟑 We honour the life and service of Retired Colonel Claudius William Makova, whose journey embodied Zimbabwe’s struggle, growth, and renewal:

πŸ”Έ Liberation Struggle – A war veteran who answered the call to liberate Zimbabwe.

πŸ”Ή Military – Rose through the ranks in the Zimbabwe National Army, serving with honour and discipline.

πŸ”Ή Parliament – Served as MP for Bikita West (2001–2008), representing ZANU PF with clarity and conviction.

πŸ”Ή Agriculture – Became a pillar of the Mkwasine sugarcane farming community, mentoring and empowering local farmers.

πŸ”Ή Local Governance – From 2020 to 2023, served as a respected Mkwasine Management Committee (MMC) councillor, guiding the Mkwasine community through critical reforms.

πŸ”Ή Legacy Builder – Spearheaded the establishment of the Mkwasine Ward 21 Area Committee under the Rural District Councils Act [Chapter 29:13], securing formal local government recognition as a sub-committee within Chiredzi RDC.

🟩 He was a bridge—between war and peace, between policy and practice, between generations.

πŸ•ŠοΈ To the Makova family, the people of Bikita, and the Mkwasine community—we extend our heartfelt condolences. Col. Makova passed away early this morning (6 July 2025) after short illness. He was being treated at Hippo Valley Medical Center.

πŸ”° Rest in Power, Colonel.

Your journey from the battlefield to Parliament, from the fields to council chambers, will not be forgotten.
