ZIMBABWE SHOCKER: ZRP Officer Sparks Outrage After Posting Video Flaunting Thousands of Dollars, Allegedly From Kombi Bribes

A storm has erupted on Zimbabwean social media after a Zimbabwe Republic Police (Zimbabwe Republic Police) officer allegedly posted a video flaunting stacks of cash, calling it a “mayday” moment—sparking furious claims that the money came from bribes extorted from kombi drivers.

The clip, which spread like wildfire across WhatsApp, Facebook, and X, shows the uniformed officer displaying what appears to be thousands of U.S. dollars, prompting instant outrage. Kombi operators and commuters alike flooded comment sections, alleging that daily roadblock collections are being turned into personal paydays. “This is why kombis are bled dry,” one commenter wrote. “Roadblocks have become ATMs.”

Public anger has only intensified as citizens demand answers, transparency, and accountability. While the video has not been independently verified, the optics alone have reignited long-standing complaints about corruption at roadblocks and the pressure faced by public transport operators. Many are now calling on ZRP command to investigate the footage urgently and release a clear statement to restore public trust.
