ZIFA Confim Zimbabwe Best Footballer Passed Away

Mutambi WeNhabvu Akaita Mukurumbira OshayikaYesteryear top footballer and former CAPS United and national team defender, Charles Sibanda, has died.

 

 

 

 

He was 70.Affectionately known as “Raw Meat,” Sibanda died in Harare on Tuesday.

A key member of the CAPS United team that dominated cup competitions in the 1980s, Sibanda was instrumental in their success, helping earn the club the nickname ‘Cup Kings.’

 

 

 

His playing career saw him feature alongside some of the country’s greatest footballing talents, including legends such as Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa, Shacky “Mr Goals” Tauro, Stanley “Sinyo” Ndunduma, and Joel “Jubilee” Shambo.

Following his retirement from playing, Sibanda dedicated himself to coaching, guiding various clubs, including Air Zimbabwe Jets and Circle United.

 

 

 

 

He later transitioned into administration, serving on several high-profile ZIFA (Zimbabwe Football Association) committees, including the Electoral Committee and the Normalisation CommitteeTributes continue to pour in across social media, recognising Sibanda’s lasting impact both on the pitch and the development of Zimbabwean football.
