The incident occurred in the Chingwe area, where an artisanal miner reportedly entered an unstable shaft to rescue a fellow miner who had been trapped underground.

 

 

 

 

Eyewitnesses said the ground collapsed during the rescue attempt. The miner who had initially been trapped was successfully pulled out and rushed to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for medical attention.

 

 

 

 

However, the rescuer became trapped in the shaft following the collapse. His condition remains unknown.

Police have not yet confirmed whether there were fatalities, saying investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
