ICE Reportedly Targeting Zimbabweans Jah Prayzah Shows in Maryland and Dallas

June 2025 – Homeland Security Advisory

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a notice to local law enforcement and event organizers warning of increased ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) operations at public entertainment venues featuring international artists. According to internal briefings, ICE agents have been authorized to increase surveillance and carry out potential enforcement operations at large gatherings, particularly events that may attract undocumented immigrants.

With Zimbabwean superstar Jah Prayzah scheduled to perform in Maryland and Dallas this coming weekend, Zimbabweans residing in the U.S. without valid immigration documents are being urged to exercise extreme caution. Sources familiar with ICE operations say the agency may use these events as an opportunity to identify and detain individuals without proper status, especially at entrances or exits of such shows.

Advocacy groups are advising undocumented Zimbabweans not to attend these shows or to at least be fully aware of the risk. “It’s heartbreaking, because these concerts are a chance for our community to feel at home. But right now, your safety must come first,” said a representative from a Zimbabwean support group in the DMV area.

If you or someone you know lacks legal immigration status, consider avoiding public gatherings where ICE might conduct enforcement activities. Legal help is also recommended if you’ve received prior warnings or immigration notices. Stay alert, stay safe, and protect yourself and your community.
