Policeman fatally shot in Sanyati Station incident linked to Ruwa Businessman case
A police officer, Constable Innocent Muchechesi, was tragically shot dead inside the charge office at Sanyati Police Station in Mashonaland West Province in a shocking incident connected to the case of Ruwa businessman Joseph Mutangadura.
The suspect, identified as Vengesai Mutasa, was reportedly being sought by detectives from the CID Homicide Unit in connection with the Mutangadura case. He had earlier escaped from a confrontation with the detectives at his home, during which one of the officers was allegedly injured in a shootout.
According to Mutasa, after fleeing the scene, he later returned home and discovered that US$1,000 in cash was missing. Seeking to report the matter, he went to Sanyati Police Station the following morning, where the CID officers were not present.
While at the station, a tragic turn of events unfolded when Constable Muchechesi, who was not involved in the case and was attending to other members of the public, was fatally shot.
