This happened in Mkoba 10, Gweru. This older man involved in a counterfeit currency syndicate was caught attempting to buy items worth around US$10 using a fake US$100 note.
When the shop attendant was still trying to verify if the note was genuine, the man tried to grab the change from her hand and flee. However, he was caught before he could exit the shop. A crowd quickly gathered outside, eager to teach him a lesson, but fortunately, he was rescued from them.
His accomplices managed to escape.
