Sections of Whawha Medium Prison and the Young Offenders Institution had their roofs blown off by a hailstorm on Sunday, resulting in overcrowding at the affected correctional facilities.It's high time we allocated funds to renovate our prisons.
Most of them are way past their expiry date. We are talking of cramped, unsafe and downright inhumane conditions here. Treasury should budget funds for that and give these facilities the overhaul they desperately need.
