Fombo Sentenced to 22 Months for Fraud
Marondera-A 31-year-old man popularly known on social media as “Fombo”, real name Caution Madiro Chikonamombe, has been sentenced to 22 months imprisonment by Marondera Magistrate Chris Chikengezha after pleading guilty to fraud.
The court heard that the accused misrepresented to the complainant, Shillah Chikwariro, that he required money to facilitate payment of import duty for a vehicle.
As a result of the misrepresentation, the complainant paid US$4,500, believing it was required for the duty payment.
In passing sentence, Magistrate Chikengezha imposed 22 months imprisonment, with 6 months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
A further 8 months were suspended on condition that the accused restitutes the complainant US$4,500 on or before 31 March 2026.
The remaining 8 months were suspended on condition that he performs 210 hours of community service at ZRP Hatfield.
The State was represented by prosecutor Frank Makava.
