A taxi driver who was filmed assaulting a motorist in the middle of a busy road has allegedly been arrested, following widespread outrage over a viral video circulating on social media.
The incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, has sparked intense debate about road safety, anger management, and accountability on South Africa’s roads. In the footage, traffic can be seen building up as tensions between the two drivers quickly spiral out of control.
? What Happened?
According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation began when the taxi driver reportedly stopped abruptly in traffic to drop off a passenger. The sudden stop left the driver of a white bakkie behind him with very little time to react.
Frustrated by the unexpected halt and what appeared to be a lack of acknowledgment, the bakkie driver overtook the taxi and stopped in front of it, blocking its path. What may have started as irritation quickly escalated into a heated exchange.
Moments later, the situation turned physical in full view of other motorists.
