Wicknell Chivayo has offered exiled former ZANU-PF Politburo member Jonathan Moyo “a brand-new car of your choice” in recognition of his support for plans to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term in office.

Wicknell Chivayo has publicly extended an offer to former Cabinet Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo to return to Zimbabwe, promising him a new vehicle and a personal chauffeur from the airport. The offer was made in response to Professor Moyo’s recent analysis regarding historical and regional precedents for indirect presidential elections.

Endorsement of Moyo’s Constitutional Analysis

Chivayo praised Prof. Moyo’s commentary on the proposed constitutional amendments, which highlighted that Zimbabwe did not have direct presidential elections between 1980 and 1990 and cited Angola as a current regional example of indirect elections.

In his statement, Chivayo described Moyo’s input as "well informed" and lauded him as an "experienced strategist" whose intellectual contributions remain unmatched. He argued that the proposed amendments are consistent with Zimbabwe’s constitutional evolution and mirror democratic standards seen in other nations like South Africa, Botswana, and the United Kingdom.

The Offer to Return

Expressing a desire for the former minister to "come back home," Chivayo assured Moyo that the ruling party, ZANU PF, embraces the principle of being "a friend to all and an enemy to none".

To facilitate this return, Chivayo made a specific pledge: "Should you decide to return, I would personally come and pick you from the airport in my 2026 Rolls-Royce and chauffeur you home, safely then the next morning you make your way to see Victor and you collect a brand new car of your choice". - ZimboKkkkkk Moyo is a clever guy you wont trap him that way find other tricks LIVE Harare

IT’S CALLED INTELLECTUAL HONESTY

The attacks on Professor Jonathan Moyo for now supporting President @edmnangagwa miss a fundamental point: the greatest leaders in history evolved their positions as circumstances changed.

Churchill crossed party lines twice when national interest demanded. Mandela negotiated with his jailers. Lincoln shifted on emancipation.

Professor Moyo was a fierce critic, yes. That was then. Today, under the Second Republic, Zimbabwe has grown from a US$20 billion to a US$52 billion economy. Inflation is stabilized. Infrastructure is visible nationwide. Peace prevails.

Is it "flip-flopping" to acknowledge when things improve? Or is it intellectual honesty?

Those who demand permanent opposition regardless of results are not defending principle—they are defending perpetual negativity.

Zimbabwe is moving forward. Supporting progress is not inconsistency. It is integrity.
