This comes after the government recognised and rewarded several young people for their outstanding work in driving the country’s economic vision in several sectors of the economy.

Among the youths rewarded during the National Youth Empowerment Symposium is talented content creator and comedian, Leroy Zaware, popularly known as “Comic Elder”, whose social media profile has grown significantly over the years due to his creative exploits.

Zaware received a double-cab truck from President Emmerson Mnangagwa in recognition of his outstanding work in positively utilising social media for empowerment.

“I urge youths to be focused and work hard to achieve greater things in life and this recognition makes me feel proud as I know that the Second Republic is keen to empower and uplift our living standards,” the comedian said.

Gracia Bvute was recognised for her trailblazing entrepreneurial prowess and several other young people were also honoured.

“President Mnangagwa is encouraging us to create wealth and obviously this makes us entrepreneurs inspired to work hard to grow the economy,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Honourable Tino Machakaire underscored how the Second Republic is providing empowerment opportunities to young people – imploring them to contribute to the attainment of Vision 2030.

“This Symposium marks a great stride in us forging ahead with empowering the youths and we are borrowing from the President’s mantra of not leaving no one and no place behind, hence the Second Republic puts much emphasis in assisting the young people to uplift their lives.”

Government efforts to empower youths got significant support from the United Nations which pledged financial aid for several youth-oriented projects.

“I am pledging extra financial support to assist and capacitate several projects that are being pursued by the government to empower the youths,” UN Resident Coordinator, Mr Edward Kallon stated.
