LynneMControversial businessman and Zanu PF benefactor Paul Tempter Tungwarara has reportedly lost US$1 million following the disappearance of a Phillipines national who was reportedly employed by his company Prevail International in Dubai.
The woman, identified as Sheila Calaguio Alfonso, is said to be on a wanted list, with a US$20 000 reward allegedly being offered to anyone who can provide information on her whereabouts.
Details surrounding how the money was stolen have not been officially disclosed.
Tungwarara, who has recently drawn public attention for his lavish lifestyle and high-profile spending, has previously been linked to a lot of controversy at home.
He was accused of charging US$10 Million for the construction of the State House precast perimeter wall—an allegation that has sparked debate on transparency in government procurement processes.
He is also behind several Presidential empowerment initiatives, including the Presidential Borehole Scheme, Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme, and the Presidential War Veterans Empowerment Scheme which critics have alleged are being implemented without parliamentary oversight and may be used to siphon public funds, claims which Tungwarara and authorities have not formally responded to.
