Tineyi Mhosva (42), who had been granted US$50 bail by a provincial magistrate in Bulawayo after being - for undermining the authority of the President, has died.
Reports say he allegedly drank poison a day after his release.
Before his arrest, Mhosva is said to have approached a street vendor who was wearing a cap with the words “Zimbabwe Anti Presidential Criticism.” He reportedly insulted the ruling party and said he did not recognise President Mnangagwa, claiming loyalty to former
President Robert Mugabe. He is alleged to have said: “Zvi hat zvenyu zve Zanu PF zvamakapfeka izvi ndezvembavha. Ini handitongwi nemunhu asiri Gushungo. Ndakaberekwa nembereko yekwa Gushungo. Mnangagwa nevanhu vake imbavha.”
